If there's one thing you wouldn't expect from a British museum, it must be a large-assed aquatic creature the size of about 10 elephants or so. I think this is because you just don't have enough open waters out in Britain to house a whale, you know. But in London, the Natural History Museum has just expressed its intention to reconstruct the skeletal remains of Wilma the whale, all 19 feet of it. So I think a good fish treat is out of the question once you see this whale on public display, isn't it?
This whale is said to have rammed up the river Thames, and died on the spot. A man from the Natural History Museum of London named Richard Sabin has told reporters that the museum needs Wilma the whale because it still does not have an actual northern bottlenose in its confines. He also stated that this would be good for biologists who would want to do some research on the nature of these whales. DNA samples were also taken from the remains of Wilma the whale so as to undergo diagnosis on the actual cause, or causes, of its death. An autopsy has also been made, but scientists back in London who are working on the case have stated that the entire story of Wilma the whale's death would be provided to the general public after the DNA diagnosis. I just hope they have the same technology back in New York for all those murders and all, you know.

Every kid's dream is a journey to the Disneyland. To see the great Mickey Mouse and his wacky gang quite fascinates a child. Although I am amused myself, my daughter prefers the peaceful, quiet and indulging scene of the countryside in London.
We discovered a recreational haven at the core of Aldenham Country Park. Its impressive vast land and open water is a sure-fire hit for treading, sight-seeing, picnics, and resigning to nature's alluring calm. Toddlers also find thrill in visiting Pooh's '100 Aker Wood", where you'll see surreal homes of Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Tigger and Pooh.
Aside from the animated characters they enjoy, it is also fascinating to catch a glimpse of the breeding ground for their animal inhabitants like the Longhorn Cattle, Tamworth pigs, White-faced Woodland, Leicester sheep and the Bagot goats you won't ordinarily find in zoos.
For my daughter, it is truly a toddler's paradise. She enjoyed bonding with the family and playing with other kids in their adventure hub. She felt one with nature, one with the family and most of all, she felt freedom and solace in sheer naiivete. Magical, indeed!
What makes Aldenham Country Park stand out is their sense of hospitality and sincerity that I find conducive to family moments. Its amiable atmosphere is very contagious. I'd also like my child to flourish with love for nature and innocent pleasure.

If Egypt has its pyramids, France has the Eiffel Tower, and the United States has the Statue of Liberty, then Britain has its Big Ben. This famous landmark in the city of London is better viewed at night when the clock dial is fully lighted. A light above the clock's face signifies that the parliament is in session.
The name Big Ben does not pertain to the four-faced clock itself nor to the clock tower, but to the bell hanging inside the clock tower. The thirteen ton bell was named after Sir Benjamin Hall, Britain's first Commissioner of Works. The bell was originally located at the old Westminster Palace until it was finally placed in its present location today. It was created by George Mears who was then the master bell founder of the Whitechapel Bell Foundry. The first chime of the bell was in July of 1859, but the bell cracked after two months, but instead of recasting it, it was simply given a quarter turn. The bell was destroyed during the World War II. However, it was rebuilt in 1950.
Aside from the main bell in the clock tower, there are also four other bells which are rung to play the Westminster Quarters. The clock is also known for its reliability. It never stopped except for its first and only breakdown in 1976, wherein the chiming mechanism broke down. The Big Ben being Britain's most famous landmark attracts tourist from all over the world.

London offers a wide range of attractions to visitors. Yet one great place you shouldn't miss when you are in the city is the British Museum. The huge building in fact belongs to the biggest and best art museums in the world along with Louvre in Paris. The museum was founded in 1753 and initially housed the art collections of Sir Hans Sloan. Then, in 1759, it was opened for public viewing. Through the centuries, the museum embraced a series of developments as its collections increased.
At present, the British museum houses over 7 million collections of art objects and artifacts that represent the history of mankind from the early ages until the present time. Due to the great number of its collections, many objects are still kept in the museum's basement. Among the prized collections of this museum are: Elgin marbles, Portland vase, Rosetta stone, Stein collection, Egyptian mummies, the Benin bronzes, and other important and historical artifacts. The good thing about this museum is that the admission is free with the exemption of some special exhibits. The British Museum is the perfect place for people who have great passion for art and history.

Britain is always associated with fairy tales. You can't blame the layman for thinking about fictional kids' stories when they think of Britain. Some might joke that Britain is the land of fairy tales because they have talking donkeys here. But no, that's L.A. (joking). Anyway, Britain is connected with fairy tales because the country has many gorgeous, gigantic castles. Besides, they are ruled by a classy royalty.
Britain is the home of the royal family. Monarchy still rules this country, although the parliament is really the one who decides. Britain is famous for Prince Charles and Princess Diana and their tragic real life story. It is also the place for real Prince Charmings, William and Henry.
This country in Europe is also famous for the many castles it has owned by the wealthy of the past and present. Some are inherited from great, great grandfathers who are barons while some are properties of the state. Some of the castles will even give you a personal tour inside. Looking into these castles is an experience that is guaranteed you won't forget.
This is what makes Britain a real magical place to visit.

If you think Venice is located only in Italy, then perhaps you have not heard or been to Britain. In the London district of Maida Vale, there is a small and exclusive area that is visited by both locals and tourists. You guessed it right; its name has Venice in it. The area is called Little Venice.
Little Venice is actually a residential vicinity much like what we see in those movies featuring suburb areas. Little Venice is complete with almost a dozen streets shaded by trees and beautiful ancient home structures made of stucco material. Today, Little Venice also houses various shops, boutiques, and restaurants that people could enjoy in once they get to Clifton Gardens and Formosa Street. Another thing that makes British people and travelers flock to Little Venice is its accessibility. Although the area is one square mile away from the London district, people could take a leisure walk from Warwick Avenue or from Cafe La Ville. Groups could also take the tube if they don't want to walk.
Little Venice is truly like a mini version of the gondola and canals in Italy. Regeant's Canal is the main attraction in the area. Couple could take a romantic cruise along the canals and go to the Regeant's Park afterwards to cap off a lovely evening.

In movies and television sitcoms, we often see still or screen shots of magnificent palaces in Britain. However, has it ever crossed your mind that perhaps those shots come from one source? Yes, it is a possibility that all those images portray only one of the marvelous buildings standing in Britain: the Westminster Palace.
The palace in London has been around since 1550. Situated near the river Thames and sandwiched between Lambeth and Westminster Bridges, this royal palace is a favorite spot for tourist viewing and film shootings, so it is no surprise that we often see angles and sides of this palace featured in flicks. The telltale landmarks of Westminster are the Big Ben, the tower clock that is uniquely found in London, and the Victoria Tower that is on the opposite side facing the clock building. The Westminster Palace has undergone rebuilding over the centuries, but if you want to see the oldest portion of the place, just head to the Westminster Hall, which dates back to about 1098.
Although Westminster Palace lived up to its name by housing British royalties and monarchs, it is now used by the Parliamentary government for its sessions and hearings. However, visitors may still take tours of Westminster during summer or attend debates open to public.

I have never considered myself a park person, but I guess in the case of London, Hyde Park is an exception. I have seen this park featured in many movies, but I never imagined it to be such a beauty. This is one nice spot to hang out in under a good weather; I recommend that you visit this park from Buckingham Palace.
Hyde Park is situated in the middle of Knightsbridge and Bayswater Road. The location of this park is perfect because it is surrounded with other attractions like the Kensington Gardens and the Marble Arch. Thus, it is not surprising that many locals and tourists frequent the area.

When you get to travel in London, make sure to drop by Covent Garden. Attracting lots of people, both foreign and local, this district in the heart of London could remind us of what we used to do a lot at home -- dining and shopping. Covent Garden is a grand commercial area, filled with numerous shops, restaurants, and other entertainment facilities.
The piazza was formerly a bustle of food and flower vendors, but is now a place where people converge and relax. The Covent Garden also refers to the Opera House, which is likewise located in the district.

A visit to England wouldn't be complete without visiting the Stonehenge, possibly the greatest ancient monument in the western hemisphere. Standing at the plains of Amesbury in Wiltshire, the strangely arranged stone structure will make one wonder about its purpose and meaning.
Many believe that the ancient races that walked through Great Britain created the Stonehenge as part of an even greater religious structure, evident of the continuing astronomical practice. Some suggest that the monument was built by forces that were foreign to the natural world and humans.

Still can't get enough of magic? Well, in London, a house is designed by the famous Simon Drake to exclusively entertain guests to different magical treats with themed twists. The House of Magic features various rooms such as Egyptian Room, Haunted Cellar, Red Room, and Enchanted Garden, where individuals or groups are entertained by fortune tellers, magicians, and other tricksters.
The location of this Victorian residence is undisclosed and even visitors are suspended with surprise as they have the choice of bring blindfolded on the way to the destination.

Nobody had imagined that a gigantic Ferris wheel such as the London Eye would captivate the attention of the tourists and the locals. I saw the London Eye in tv shows like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I cannot wait to try it out when I travel to London.
Riding in the London Eye is enjoyable because the glass-covered pods are roomy enough to move around. The pods are also sufficiently wide to see over the whole of London, including buildings, rivers, and bridges. The London Eye is located across the river of Thames from the area of Parliament Square.

Britain does not only boast picturesque castles, luxurious hotels and legendary streets like Penny Lane. Britain has one of the most extensive collections of clothes, fashion accessories, and textiles. The Gallery of Costume and Platt Hall have just that.
The Gallery of Costume also has a wide array of fashion books, magazines, prints, examples, and catalogues on anything and everything about fashion and design. Don't you think it's a marvelous idea to be touring around Manchester and seeing the elegant collection of clothing from the whole of Britain? I think it's just completely fabulous!

If you are the kind of person who is a traveling enthusiast and at the same time, a conspiracy aficionado, then it might be best for you to try visiting London and take a stab at solving one of the most puzzling crimes in history: Jack the Ripper murders.
The city is constantly offering Jack the Ripper tours and I tell you, the best guides might already have full schedules, so it is better to book in advance. You will know that you have a good Jack the Ripper package when the tourists are treated to the scenes of the crime as well as an elaborate exposition of the era of Jack the Ripper. Of course, having a knowledgeable and well-prepared guide can also heighten the interest of anyone into Jack the Ripper cases.

Tourists will not let their vacation in Britain pass without paying a visit to the Royal house, the official residence of the Queen. It is one among the many buildings in London that can be easily recognized because of its changing guards. The changing of the guards takes place during summer and has been one of the popular events that tourists have been waiting to see.
The event takes place at 11:30 every day during summer and every other day during winter. The event lasts for about 45 minutes each day. The guard that will replace the old guard marches with the guards' band from Wellington barracks. The old guard will then return to the barracks while the new guard marches to the St. James' palace.
